The very Bay Area pastime of sideshows appeared once again to get out of hand, as video posted online yesterday shows attendees kicking and throwing bottles at a CHP Cruiser while its sirens blared. KRON 4 reports that the video above was shot on Oakland's MacArthur Boulevard, and depicts what appears to be the aftermath of a sideshow following police's arrival on the scene.

This isn't the first time in recent memory that the public could be seen lashing out at law enforcement during or after a sideshow — a similar incident took place in Oakland in November in which some 700 cars were taking part in the anarchic festivity, and cops were overwhelmed and attacked by attendees.

Sideshows often take place on public streets (in at least two very prominent cases on the Bay Bridge itself), and KRON 4 has reported in the past that investigators with the California Highway Patrol are working to identify the participants. While the reckless driving can itself be dangerous, danger lies elsewhere as well. There have been multiple incidents of deaths at these events in the past following police chases and one fatal shooting.

It's unclear exactly when this video was shot, or if anyone was arrested, and KRON 4 has reached out to CHP for comment on the matter. Regardless, if the past is any indication, we can expect to see more cases like this in the future.
