A tourist's trip to San Francisco took an unexpected detour Saturday, after he fell off the Powell and Hyde cable car as it traveled down a crowded street.

According to Bay City News, the cable car was near Washington and Powell Streets at 2:45 p.m. Saturday when a 60-year-old man lost hold of the handrail and fell from the vehicle as it was slowing down to stop.

Hoodline reports that the man, a tourist from Texas, "fainted and fell off" cable car #13 while he "may have been standing on the car's running board."

As of Monday morning, neither police nor the SFMTA had any further information on the circumstances of the fall or his condition, but as of Saturday, Hoodline says, the man was at San Francisco General Hospital in stable condition.
