An insane foot chase happened Saturday that began with a burglary on the 1300 block of Pacific Avenue on Russian Hill. Police received the report of the first burglary around 8:30 a.m., as KRON 4 reports, and arrived at the building where the incident occurred and found a piece of luggage on the roof from the burgled apartment.

Shortly thereafter, they get word of a second burglary a few blocks away, on the 1500 block of Leavenworth, in which there was a home invasion and the suspect held a male victim at gunpoint.

Another victim, Tiffany Norman, tells ABC 7 she was awakened by loud banging on her apartment door at 8:40 a.m., after which the suspect broke down her door and entered while fleeing police. The cops then chased him to the roof, and just like in the movies, he jumped from one rooftop to another, then tried to escape by leaping to a tree. He instead ended up hurting himself pretty badly by landing on top of a parked Audi four stories below.

He also reportedly pointed his gun at police before fleeing to the roof, where he ultimately complied with orders to drop his weapon, before making a leap for it. No shots were fired.

According to NBC Bay Area, the suspect is described only as a man in his 30's,

Once out of the hospital, where he's being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, he will be arrested on suspicion of burglary, false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, resisting/obstructing/delaying arrest, and using a firearm while committing a felony.
