Two Bay Area men are free on bail today, after they were arrested for trying to convince a 14-year-old girl to have sex with them.

In a press release sent by the San Francisco Police Department this morning, they write that 43-year-old Mark Berenstein of San Mateo and 39-year-old Xi Yuan Lin of San Carlos came to the attention of SFPD's Internet Crimes Against Children unit when it was reported that the duo were allegedly "attempting to have sexual contact with a fourteen year old girl through online social media."

"During the investigation," SFPD says via release, "it was determined that the individuals had both attempted to send graphic sexual images and videos to the child."

Both men were arrested on February 25 when they "attempted to meet with and have sexual contact with the child," in a joint operation with the San Francisco District Attorney's Office and the FBI.

Berenstein and Lin both face multiple charges, including sending harmful material to a minor (a felony), arranging a meeting with a minor for sexual contact (a misdemeanor) and going to an arranged meeting with a minor for sexual contact (a felony). According to the San Francisco Sheriff's Department, both men have since been released on bail.

According to the SFPD, even though these men have been arrested, they're still seeking additional information on other crimes they might have committed.
