Sure to make any new list we make of the city's best sandwiches, and part of one of SF's top brunch menus, is this little piece of high-cholesterol heaven at Salumeria on the weekends. Though the brunch at Central Kitchen has been discontinued, next-door sister spot Salumeria is keeping things going with counter service and food delivered to tables on the shared patio between the two. And the menu, which will change seasonally, has a number of fun and delicious items, not the least of which is an insane apple-walnut-bacon sticky bun that probably ought to be shared by two to three people.

But the fried chicken and egg sandwich pictured above is incredibly good as well, and features a crunchy and juicy piece of boneless chicken topped with prosciutto, a runny egg, and lightly spicy chili hollandaise. It sounds like too much, I know, but never was there a better indulgent bite for a hungover Sunday than this thing. It could be called medicinal, though only if you're already prescribed a statin.

Pair it with one of the tasty brunch cocktails, or their brunch carafe of sparkling wine ($48) which comes with OJ, herb syrup, and a couple kinds of bitters for a mix-and-match, mimosa/champagne cocktail experience that's equally just what the doctor ordered.
