Castro-area Muni riders were hit with a disturbing message Monday morning, when they were confronted with fliers depicting a burning Pride flag as they passed through two area stations.
According to SFist tipster "k$tarr Esquire," the fliers you see above were pasted up "overnight" at the Castro and Church Muni stations. Though you can see that some effort was made to remove them, they remained largely in place when this photo was taken at 7:59 Monday morning.
"k$tarr Esquire" notes both the burning Pride flag imagery as well as "a bunch of anti-LGBT messaging" in the fliers' text.
Though it's hard to make out the majority of the text on what's left of the flier on the right, the one on the left appears to reference the Bible verse 2 Timothy 3:1-7, which reads:
But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these. For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Call me a weak woman if you will, but that sounds like my kind of man, right there.
