Yesterday was gorgeous, and many of you followed our advice and went to Dolores Park to celebrate not having to be at work on Presidents' Day. At least one of you, however, celebrated a bit too hard — and in the process proved the new Dolores Park rangers are not messing around.

At around 5:45 p.m. this reporter noticed two park rangers beelining across the trash-strewn grass with what appeared to be a target in mind. The two rangers promptly tackled the above reveler, brought him to the ground, and cuffed him. When asked what merited such a severe response, a nearby park-goer noted "being drunk."

We reached out to an official with the Rec and Parks Department for details on the case, and will update when we learn more. In the meantime, while we're unsure as to what prompted the tackling and arrest of this individual (aggressive littering?), we can be sure about one thing: The park rangers at the newly renovated Dolores Park definitely aren't messing around.

Update: Rec and Parks spokesperson Joey Kahn responded to our inquiry, and informed us that the man "was cited for three Park Code violations: 4.01(g) Disorderly Conduct, 4.08 Interference with Recreation and Park Employees, and 4.15 Intoxication by Alcohol or Drugs." Kahn further explained that this all went down after "Park Patrol approached the man for urinating on a tree in violation of Park Code."
