This past weekend was a busy one at Dolores Park, and not just for parkgoers enjoying the wonderfully warm weather. On Saturday evening, shortly after the above photo was taken, a crew of seven men pistol whipped and robbed a man in the recently renovated park.

Both Mission Local and Hoodline reported on the crime today via an SFPD release, providing us with some details on the unfortunate affair that went down around 7 p.m. Saturday evening.

"Seven men, estimated to be between the ages of 18 and 20, approached the man, and one put a handgun to the man’s face," notes Mission Local. "The suspect then pistol whipped the victim and stole his black satchel bag before fleeing on foot out of the park."

Hoodline informs us that the man had "bruising and cuts to his head and face" and went to the hospital.

While violent crime is no stranger to Dolores Park — just this past December a man was stabbed multiple times after refusing to purchase weed, and in January a man was shot on the edge of the park — it is still be jarring when it takes place somewhere so associated in the public's consciousness with Hunky Jesus and weed truffles.

No arrests have been made.
