Eight days after 1) Crews screwed up the placement of the Super Bowl/Verizon ad wrapping Embarcadero Center 2) Planning claimed they were powerless to enforce laws against it/fight City Hall's OK of it, it's coming down.

As reported yesterday, City Attorney Dennis Herrera seemed less afraid of City Hall than Planning was and went after the wraps for violation of local display advertising regulations.

Their deadline was 5 p.m. Looks like they'll make it, if this photo taken then IMed to me by birthday boy/former SFist editor Brock Keeling is any indication. "LOL" he wrote, in response not just to the ad's destruction but because, I can only assume, his newly advanced age means he's now doing that old person thing where they just start laughing at anything.
