For many in the Latino community, Christmas is all about tamales. And tonight you can either hop in to Hecho in the Castro for a prix fixe tamale feast, or take a dozen of them to go.

The dinner is collaboration between drag queen chef Juanita More and Hecho chef Cory Armenta, and will feature More's family's pork tamale recipe.

The Tamale & Tequila Holiday Party includes some specialty cocktails as well as a $29 three-course prix fixe dinner option — you need to both buy a ticket here and make a reservation at Hecho, and it looks like there are still tables on the early and late side. There's also a communal table for walk-ins, and you can call 415.926.5630 to see what else might not be on OpenTable.

For those who can't sit down for the whole affair, you can take home a dozen of Juanita's tamales for $24, and some of her chipotle and tomatillo salsas for $7 more. Pre-order those here.

And, it should be noted, if you miss out on tonight's fun, you can head to the Mission for more Christmas tamales this week at La Oaxaquena Bakery & Restaurant or at 24th Street mainstay tortilla and tamale spot, La Palma Mexicatessen.
