Don't date yourselves, but for those who went to high school or college in mid- to late 1990s in the US, you likely endured a lot of Dave Matthews either blaring out a dorm window or in your best friend's car whilst hot-boxing. And for those who've remained die-hard fans of the froggy-throated troubadour, you'll be happy to know he and the band are heading to SF on February 4 to do a show at Pier 70 on the eve of Super Bowl 50 weekend, as they announced yesterday. This is part of the Pepsi- and DirecTV-sponsored "ultimate fan experience" that they're calling Super Thursday, and on Super Friday, February 5, Pharrell Williams will headline the same venue, obviously drawing a younger crowd.
Dave Matthews Band, if you didn't know, has continued touring annually every summer since they formed 24 years ago, taking only the year 2011 off to celebrate their 20th anniversary and have some rest. They have not had a studio album since 2012's Away From the World.
Pre-sale tickets went online this morning for members of the Matthews Warehouse, which you can join at that link. And tickets go on sale to the broader public at 9 a.m. PT on Friday, December 11, via Ticketmaster.
Tickets start at $75 for both Super Thursday and Super Friday, and it looks like they can also be found at LiveNation. On-sale for Pharrell is also Friday, December 11, but Citi cardholders have a pre-sale option on Thursday via Ticketmaster.
