You might be a year-round celebrant, but beer receives special attention next month. The 8th annual San Francisco beer "week," which hinges on the San Francisco Brewers Guild's somewhat loose, probably drunk definition of 7 days, will last from January 22nd through January 31st.

Though the event is San Francisco in name, it's Bay Area in spirit. This year there's more SF-proper breweries than last year, but it isn't getting any easier to pay for the real estate necessary to have a full facility in our 7-by-7. As such, some of the best beers on tap in San Francisco do travel, but not far, to get here.

But Beer Week isn't just a celebration of breweries, either — restaurants, bars, and basically anyone who can will be getting in on the fun, hosting events, pairings, and even classes.

Now you can start marking your calendar and consulting your friends' plans thanks to the tech savvy Brewers Guild squad, who again this year have posted a sleek, easy-to-use events tracker/selector. The "full schedule" is up, but more events will surely be added as the festivities draw closer.

Most pertinent to you now is snagging a coveted Opening Gala ticket. The event is a toast to all things San Francisco and beer, and it's also the first place to get the not one, but two Brewers' Guild collaboration beers.

Yep, every year, the whole gang of your favorite breweries forms a sort of super group and comes up with a special beer for the week's events. This year, playing to the whole festivals' Super Bowl-inspired theme, brewers have formed two teams to compete. Who wins? Beer geeks.

Beer Week Opening Gala: Friday, January 22, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., $80
