After the death of owner Jay Johnson, the Orbit Room abruptly closed this spring, marking the end of 20 years in business and causing a lot of sadness around the neighborhood. But just as suddenly as the bar threw closed its shutters, the beloved spot for craft cocktails and pizza will throw them back open again. Yep — Thursday will be the bar's first night back, Inside Scoop reports.

It was just two weeks ago that we learned of the planned reopening at the hands of business partners Courtney Ross and Nic DiLillo, both of them longtime Orbit devotees. DiLillo, who comes from a post as bar manager at Tempest Bar in SoMa will take care of cocktails. Ross, who helped to open Bloodhound, is in charge of food — and this time around, pizza won't be the only thing available. The reopening promises to be grand.

To quote Bruce Springsteen (himself paraphrasing a theory of reincarnation), "Everything dies, baby, that's a fact, but everything that dies, someday, comes back."
