How does this still work? Guy walks into a bank, hands the teller a note which may or may not say anything on it besides, "Give me money," and the teller gives him money, and he leaves. This is all one needs to do in modern bank robbery, apparently, and one guy may have done it twice in the span of less than three hours on Monday, starting in Chinatown.

As KRON 4 reports, there was a bank robbery at 3:20 p.m. on the 1000 block of Stockton Street by a man in his 20s or early 30s, with no other description given.

He demanded an undisclosed amount of cash, and it doesn't sound like he even brandished a weapon, though maybe his note said he had one. That would make his method the same as the tiny, jowly, unarmed Asian man in his 60s that federal authorities have been looking for who they believe is responsible for 10 bank heists dating back to 2007, including one on Clement Street last month.

Though police have not confirmed whether a second incident Monday was related to the earlier one on Stockton Street, a second robbery occurred at an unnamed bank in the Stonestown mall complex, on Buckingham Way, two and a half hours later. This was at 5:53 p.m., and a robber used the same method, with the note and possibly no weapon.

The SFPD is seeking information in both cases, and anyone can give that anonymously at (415) 575-4444, text a tip to TIP411 with “SFPD” in the message.
