It wasn't quite Don Larsen, but it's still pretty cool.

Former Giants lefty Pat Misch—who came up with the team in 2006 and pitched three unremarkable seasons—threw a no-hitter in Game 7 of the Taiwan Series on Sunday night to help the Lamigo Monkeys beat the Chinatrust Brothers (previously Brother Elephants). It was the fourth championship in team history. Misch's gem was the first no-hitter in the Chinese Professional Baseball League's championship series since it started in 1990.

Misch's only blemish in the no-hitter was a walk in the 5th inning, according to The China Post, but he otherwise struck out seven and faced the minimum 27 batters. "My catcher called a good game, I just pitched to where he wanted the ball," Misch told the Taipei Times. "Then I got the batters down in order, inning by inning, and our defense was outstanding tonight." The Monkey's hitters were outstanding as well, as they clobbered the Brothers 11-0.

Despite Misch's masterful performance, Taiwan Series MVP honors went to his teammate Ngayaw Ake (Lin Chih-sheng, in Mandarin). In the series, Ake hit three home runs with 11 RBI. Ake is one of the more prolific power hitters in the CPBL.

It was a dramatic series, as the Monkeys came back after being down 3-1 in the series to win
in front of a sellout crowd at home.

Misch's no-no recalls former Yankees hurler Don Larsen, who threw a perfect game in Gae 5 of the 1956 World Series.

The 34-year-old Misch last pitched in the big leagues for the Mets in 2011. He most recently signed a minor league deal with the Miami Marlins earlier this year, but was released in July.
