Nearly a year after a missing tech worker was found dead in San Francisco Bay, another body has been found floating in the same waters.
According to a San Francisco Fire Department dispatcher, a passenger of a vessel in Bay waters between Angel Island and Alcatraz Island called in a report of a floating body at 2:56 p.m. Sunday.
By 3:25, the SFFD's rescue boat had recovered the remains, KRON4 reports. According to ABC7, the rescue crew took took the deceased "back to the Fireboat Station along the Embarcadero."
According to SFFD dispatch, the body, described only as "male," is now in the hands of the San Francisco Medical Examiner's Office, which is investigating the cause of death.
The man has yet to be publicly identified, and a call to the ME's office for more details on the deceased was not returned at publication time.
This story might remind some of Dan Ha's, the SF man whose disappearance last Halloween sparked a massive social media push to find him. His badly decomposed remains were found in the waters near Alcatraz on November 11, 2014, almost two weeks after his disappearance. Though the ME's office confirmed that the body was indeed Ha's in January of this year, they have yet to publicly release the cause of his death.
