Baby Boot Camper Christina Ciccone was drinking a cup of tea with friends while seated in the Westfield Mall food court at 4:44 Saturday afternoon. That's when the group decided to take a picture to mark the moment, and things took a creepy and larcenous turn.

Ciccone had "left my purse on the floor right next to the table just for a few seconds" she tells SFist, when the woman who was taking their picture "said suddenly 'is that your friend that just took your purse?'"

Spoiler: that guy on the right of the photo isn't her friend. It's a purse thief, Ciccone says, who was either watching the group, or who stumbled on them at just the right moment.

Though Ciccone says she "got up and ran right after [him] but he was already gone."

Ciccone acknowledges that "I know I should have been way more careful and not leave my purse unattended even for a second, but he was so fast."

"I just want to warn you guys how dangerous it can be in the mall here downtown. In all 24 years that I have been living here this never happened to me at the mall."
