Oh, chicken! Just before Bay Bridge toll plaza right now. I fear this will not end well. pic.twitter.com/8ANfapwp9K

Traffic's always bad on the Bay Bridge during morning rush hour, but today it was a little weirder, as drivers say that a bunch of chickens were roaming in the lanes just east of the toll plaza this morning.
California Highway Patrol spokesperson Officer Sean Wilkenfeld says that calls reporting multiple chickens on the road have been coming in since around 7:30 this morning.
Wilkenfeld urged well-meaning drivers to stay in their cars and not to try to save the chickens, as the result could be deadly.
Please DO NOT try and grab the chickens on the freeway. Let #CHP find out why the chickens crossed the road, it's not worth getting hit!

According to KCBS, Caltrans has also decided that "they are letting the chicken run around since it’s safer than putting a crew member in traffic to catch it."
As of 9:30, Wilkenfeld says, no one has stepped forward to claim responsibility for the chickens, nor has anyone in the area reported any missing fowl.
