Police have made an arrest in the violent attack and robbery that took place in the wake of Kathryn Steinle's murder. One suspected assailant who targeted two television news crews reporting from the scene at Pier 14 after 6 a.m. on July 2nd is now in custody, CBS SF reports.

That morning, armed robbers made off with high-end television equipment and in the process pistol whipped a KTVU camera operator. At the time, suspects were described as "three black males, all wearing dark clothing, with one suspect having dreadlocks."

The suspect in custody is Michael A. Jones, who was arrested in San Francisco "after an intense manhunt." The 30-year-old, whose suspected accomplices are still at large, reportedly struggled with his arresting officers.

“Hold on, hold on, wait,” said KTVU reporter Cara Liu live on the air on the morning of the crime. In a matter of moments, KNTV reporter Kris Sanchez and camera operator Alan Waples were confronted with a gun.

“Don’t shoot! Don’t shoot!” Sanchez yelled, as Waples, who is 54, was pistol whipped. “Take the camera!” he remembers saying while "waiting for the click of the gun."

For those wondering about the endgame for stealing high-tech TV equipment, The New York Times writes of a black market for which hauls can bring in as much as $50,000.
