An Oakland musician that was scheduled to take the stage at Outside Lands had his set abruptly canceled after getting busted for allegedly trying to scalp festival wristbands.
Fantastic Negrito, whose real name is Xavier Dphrepaulezz, was one of three men detained by the SFPD on Saturday, around noon, near the corner of 25th Avenue and Fulton Street for trying to sell all-access Outside Lands wristbands. The other two were 22-year-old John Beckmeyer, an intern for Fantastic Negrito, and 44-year-old Alistair Monroe, a friend of Dphrepaulezz. Police reportedly received a tip from Another Planet Entertainment, the organizers of the festival, that the men had attempted to sell wristbands on Craigslist.
"I write songs. I perform. I play the guitar. I play the keyboard," Dphrepaulezz told The Chronicle. "I don't do wristbands ever."
Dphrepaulezz and Monroe both said the musician's intern confessed to solely trying to sell the wristband, but they all wound up being detained by police for three hours. All three were cited and released. Fantastic Negrito's set was eventually canceled.

I wish it had ended differently but that's the way it goes.

Fantastic Negrito rose to prominence after winning NPR's Tiny Desk Concert contest. Before that he used to play BART stations for tips. His website describes his music as "black roots music."
The musician has been tweeting at the Outside Lands account to set up a make-up set for fans that missed out on his show, though we all know how this should really end:
