Sure we've had our share of gray days this month, and the Fourth was predictably socked in. But July in San Francisco in 2015 hasn't been half bad! The weather was lovely and warm last weekend, and moreso the weekend before. Some of the nicest days since April, in fact, have been this month. We have a big high pressure system to thank for this week's warmth, and you should enjoy it while it lasts — basically today and tomorrow, and maybe Thursday, with today being the height of the heatwave — because then we'll be socked in again by the weekend. Play hooky. Go to the beach. What's that about the demanding new job you have that is making that impossible?

At the very least this is going to be a day for a long lunch hour with some St. Lucia on your headphones, and/or knocking off early and being able to sit outside with some rosé, or the icy beverage of your choice.

It's going to be a day for basking, for wasting time, for skipping Soul Cycle. Who knows what our typical Indian summer will be like this year with this Godzilla El Niño taking shape. It could be raining in October at this rate — bizarrely, according to ABC 7, there's even a chance of precipitation later in the week because another Mexican storm system sliding north, but only a chance. (And be glad that you are a not a firefighter in the Sierras right now, and toast to their luck in putting out all the fires as the heatwave intensifies out there.)

The point is, this unseasonably perfect July could be the last balmy weather we get. Probably not — September, I have hopes for you — but maybe!

And when you know a storm is coming, or when you know the good times are coming to a close, you act accordingly and don't waste the precious hours you've got in the sun.
