Spin — the popular chain of ping-pong "social club" bar/restaurants — is at last coming to San Francisco, as Inside Scoop and the Business Times report.

One notable backer of the kooky company: Susan Sarandon, an actress who according to a business partner "loves the fact that [ping-pong] is an activity where women can easily win against men, and kids also can compete with adults.”

This, Spin's sixth location, is set to open in the retail portion of the striking structure at 690 Folsom sometime this winter.

The ping-pong society of a sort will complement San Francisco's wide variety of venues for adult children, such as Urban Putt and Brewcade. Of course, real kids are welcome at Spin, too — until adults take over in the evening.
