Like it does when performed at a ballgame, the wave has to start somewhere. And so it did in Oakland with "Krazy George," the professional fan and cheerleader who concocted the move for an A's game in 1981.

You can see footage from that game and meet George in this video from KQED. It also raises the question of why Giants fans might not condone the wave at AT&T park these days. There's no official policy against it, of course, though as immortalized on one fan's T-shirt, there was a strong unofficial one at the Stick.
