An anonymous tipster wrote in to report that despite initial reports that only a few people in the six-story building that is 87 Dolores would need to be displaced following an April 2014 fire, the entire building was evacuated, all 50 residents, and still have not been allowed to return home. The problem, apparently, is a delayed insurance claim, and the landlord of this 30-unit, rent-controlled building has been unable to make the necessary repairs to the building's roof, or to address water damage from the day of the fire.

The insurer, Lloyd's of London, is to blame for the delay, and reportedly Supervisor Scott Wiener is helping the landlord file a bad-faith claim against Lloyd's with the state Department of Insurance. It has now been over fifteen months since the fire.

Says the tipster, "The tenants of 87 Dolores want to return to their homes. We are residents who have lived in the Mission for years — teachers, artists, parents, business owners — San Franciscans. We deserve to return home."

The tenants have two Facebook groups here and here, and they're hoping to be able that the insurer responds to their complaint soon.
