They say that torturing animals is how serial killers get their start in the business of homicide. But what about torturing plants, what kind of...release might that offer a person? That's just one of the many question I'd like to ask the guy who's been caught on tape at least twice this past week as he abused some bushes near 16th and Bryant Streets.

In a video posted on July 10, you can see the man I'm talking about, a backpacked traveler on 16th Street who clearly decides he doesn't like the look of this well-groomed foliage.

Take a look:

BFF.fm founder/Twitter user Cosmic Amanda speculated via the latter platform that the abused bushes in question are located at 16th and Bryant, and a Google Street View look at the area bears her out, as it appears the bushes in question are in front of this new development at 2423 16th Street.

However, the July 10 video isn't the only indignity those bushes have suffered. On July 12, another video appeared, this one of, I think (right? Let me know if you disagree) the same guy, who this time seems a little less sure on his feet as he attacks the plant.

Stick around until the end, there's a great twist:

Hooray for guy #2! Now that's a man who knows how to handle a bush.

Though SFist's attempt to contact the videos' poster has been unsuccessful at publication time, that's OK — it's almost more fun to speculate on the events behind the bashings. But, hey, if you know recognize either guy or know more behind the flora flayings, drop us a line!
