A 19-year-old man walking through a Mission District playground was shot "multiple times" Sunday night, and as of today the suspect remains at large.

The James Rolph Jr. Playground, located at Potrero Avenue and Cesar Chavez Street, is described by San Francisco Rec and Parks as "a dynamic community center" with "a new clubhouse and modern play structures" as well as a baseball field, and basketball and tennis courts.

That's where the victim was walking with a friend at around 9 p.m. Sunday night, according to the San Francisco Police Department.

The duo was near the intersection of 26th and Hampshire Streets when a suspect described only as "male" ran up, shot the victim several times with a handgun, then fled.

The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital, and is expected to survive.

The suspect remains on the loose, and as of Tuesday morning, SFPD had neither a suspect description nor any possible motives for the shooting to report.

However, as always, SFPD is eager to get any tips on this case. If you have any information on this shooting they ask that you call the SFPD's anonymous tip line at 415-575-4444 or send them a tip by text message to TIP411 with "SFPD" in the message.
