A man is fighting for his life this morning after a stabbing and robbery in the Mission District left him with critical injuries.

According to the San Francisco Police Department, it was 2:29 Tuesday morning when a 57-year-old man left a bar near 15th and Valencia Streets.

(It's SFPD policy to decline to specify business names in cases such as these, so though I wish I could tell you which bar we're talking about, I can't. In fact, a search of Yelp doesn't appear to identify any bars in that area. Any of you commenters have ideas on which bar it was? If so, let's hear it.)

Police say that as he left the bar, three men jumped him, stabbed him in the chest, and stole his wallet, credit cards, and identification.

The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with critical injuries

The suspects fled the scene, and remain at large. As of publication time, police did not have any additional details on the violent assailants. They do ask, however, that anyone who might have any information on the case call SFPD's anonymous tip line at 415-575-4444 or to send a tip by text message to TIP411 with "SFPD" in the message
