One person is dead and another 8 are injured after a truck drove through a crowd standing outside of a restaurant in Bay Point.

Investigators are still trying to determine why the truck's driver drove through a crowd standing outside of the La Finca Restaurant, on the 700 block of the Port Chicago Highway, just before 2 a.m., Saturday morning. Witnesses told authorities that it appeared to be an intentional act. "We've had some witnesses who have told us it was an intentional act," Sergeant Mark Johnson of the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department told KTVU.

About 50 people were in the parking lot when the incident occurred, and two were pinned under the truck when deputies and the fire department arrived on the scene according to KGO KGO. One of the victims later died at the hospital.

The driver was taken into custody and investigators are still trying to what charges, if any, the he will face.
