'Business Town!' Is Richard Scarry 2.0 For Silicon Valley

Business Town! is a brilliant, if derivative, Tumblr you should totally follow. Obviously, the style is all Richard Scarry, the illustrator whose most popular work, Busy Town, featured anthropomorphic animals in workaday jobs. Favorite inhabitants included Huckle Cat and Lowly Worm, and there was even a TV show in the '90s.

Then, last November, this "21st Century Update" appeared from artist Ruben Rolling. It was awesome, because those jobs Richard Scarry detailed don't all exist anymore, thanks to these cool new ones.

And now, there's Business Town!, an ongoing Tumblr spotted by Quartz from Tony Ruth. As Ruth describes the project, it attempts "to explain our highly intangible, deeply disruptive, data-driven, venture-backed, gluten-free economic meritocracy to the uninitiated. With apologies to Richard Scarry." Apology accepted, because these are wonderful.

You can see them all on the Tumblr and follow for new ones. Here's one more, with the demise of anonymous gossip app Secret in mind.
