This almost 5-minute promotional video from Sizzler — aimed at potential franchisees? — came out in 1991, and comes complete with a soaring theme song about America, and choices, that just might bring a tear to your eye. That quality, that freshness, that soup and salad bar, all those choices? All those key changes! That's America, people. And so is that girl in a tree with her baseball bat, that family on the merry-go-round, the Old Man and the Sea fishing with his granddaughter, that handsome dad with his turquoise mock turtleneck — we're all in this together!

This ridiculously rose-colored ad was originally posted to YouTube a couple years ago but was just rediscovered by an Esquire blogger, and reposted to Digg. It is hard to imagine a time when even an industrial reel like this would fly, but sure, this was over 20 years ago. Yet Sizzler, founded in California in 1958, thrives on with almost 170 restaurants nationwide.

But seriously, could Sizzler run for president? Shouldn't we all be talking more about choices, and value, and shrimp-and-steak combo platters?

For reference, if this makes you hungry, here's where to find the Sizzler nearest you. San Francisco, you've got your pick of Colma, Daly City, or San Leandro.
