42-year-old Bridget Klecker was in the wrong place at the wrong time Friday night when she was struck and killed in a crosswalk at California and Kearny Streets by three armed suspects fleeing police at high speed in a stolen car. The suspects were only three blocks into the chase, leading police from an attempted pull-over at California and Mason, when they flew over the hill and "went airborne" at the top of California Street, according to one witness who talked to ABC 7.

The news station also talked to Klecker's father, via phone from North Carolina, who said his daughter "had a great sense of humor, [was] fun to be around, [and the] life of the party."

As the Chronicle adds, Klecker had been on her way home from dinner with a friend in Chinatown, around 10 p.m. Friday, when the accident occurred.

Klecker's grieving roommate and friend, Sam Rosoff, spoke tearfully with CBS 5, saying, "It just seems surreal — it doesn’t seem rea. I have known people that have died, but I have not known anyone personally who has been killed."

Klecker worked for Bon Appetit Management, the food service company that, among other things, manages food offerings on the Google campus — and according to Facebook, Klecker managed both the Steam and Victoria cafes at Google.

She was also, evidently, an avid Giants fan, and posted a photo from AT&T Park at the Giant's pre-season game there against the Oakland A's on April 3. Her best friend, Kristine Mendoza, said they had been planning to attend today's home opener together.

After committing several other crimes including the vehicle theft, the three suspects led police on a chase that took them through the Tenderloin and SoMa, hitting and injuring another pedestrian and crashing into a vehicle at 8th and Harrison, but managed to outrun police and abandon the stolen vehicle, a Toyota Corolla, on Treasure Island. They remain at large and the SFPD is seeking tips at their Anonymous Tip Line at 415-575-4444 or via text to Tip411 with SFPD at the beginning of the message.
