A quiet and peaceful pocket of the Outer Sunset was shaken this morning, after a 34-year-old man was found stabbed to death in the street.

According to San Francisco Police Department spokesperson Officer Grace Gatpandan, at 4:05 this morning, police were called to the 1600 block of 45th Avenue (which is between Lawton and Moraga Streets) on reports of a person "lying on the ground and bleeding."

When they arrived, they discovered a 34-year-old man face down on the sidewalk, suffering from multiple stab wounds to the upper torso. Though police tried to render aid and medics reported to the scene, the victim was pronounced dead at 4:22 a.m., Gatpandan says.

The San Francisco Medical Examiner has yet to publicly identify the victim, pending notification of his family.

Police have been canvassing the area in an attempt to gather witness accounts or suspect information, but didn't have any at publication time.

This is San Francisco's 15th homicide for 2015. Our last slaying was March 28, when 30-year-old Carlos Ruben Banegas-Nunez was shot to death near the Crocker-Amazon Playground. Police don't have any suspect information in that case, either.
