As hinted at earlier, the time has come for the debut of Aster (1001 Guerrero Street), the newest restaurant in the Daniel Patterson Group. This one comes to us via former Outerlands chef Brett Cooper who's been laying low and consulting on projects like Huxley since leaving Outerlands last year, and fans of what he did there should get excited for Tuesday night's opening of the new spot.

The full menu is online now, and includes things like black cod served with cod broth, miso levain, and Swiss chard with pickled chard stems; green garlic 'vichyssoise'; and whole roasted lamb shoulder with vadouvan, cabbage, and wheatberries.

Cooper is a master, particularly, at sophisticated vegetable preparations, having worked in the kitchens at Coi and Saison. So, dishes like "young kale with pickled beet, carrot, dill, and grain mustard" are going to be greater than the sum of their parts.

Eater has some photos of the interior, formerly home to The Beast & the Hare, where you can see the small dining room is dominated by a long communal table in the center, and the front windows are lined with plants.

And reservations, starting tomorrow, are now up for grabs on OpenTable.
