Valencia Street pastry rebels Craftsman & Wolves have announced their expansion to Russian Hill along with a big hire in top pastry chef Angela Pinkerton who has arrived in the Bay Area by way of New York's Eleven Madison Park. There, she was handed the 2011 James Beard Award for Outstanding Pastry Chef.

Inside Scoop has learned that the forthcoming outpost will be situated in a funky new building at 1643 Pacific Avenue between Van Ness and Polk Streets and that Pinkerton has already begun working with the Craftsman & Wolves pack, which is led by chef-owner William Werner. This all comes fresh off the news that Werner has been selected as a James Beard 2015 semifinalist for Outstanding Baker.

“I was looking for something totally different,” Pinkerton tells Inside Scoop.“After being at Eleven Madison Park and in restaurants for years, I was looking for a change. I really love what they do at Craftsman & Wolves." Pinkerton reportedly hopes to open her own operation in time.

The lease on the Russian Hill location, slightly smaller than the Mission flagship, has been finalized. A similar menu is expected and an opening is slated for May. Meanwhile, Craftsman & Wolves are rejiggering their online shop and readying a SoCal location in Culver City for sometime this summer.
