A fatal stabbing this weekend in the Bayview is, at present, listed as San Francisco's tenth homicide of 2015, but details otherwise remain very hazy.

According to the San Francisco Police Department, officers as well as the San Francisco Fire Department were called to the Bayview intersection of McKinnon Avenue and Lane Street at around 9 a.m. Sunday.

In a stairway on the 1400 block of McKinnon (which is just south of Lane) they discovered a woman between the ages of 20-25, dead of what investigators say were multiple stab wounds.

The victim was later identified as trans woman Taja DeJesus, despite previous reports that the victim was male. As SF Weekly reported, the suspect in the case was described by witnesses as a six-foot-one-inch black male wearing a black jacket and shorts.

This death marks San Francisco's tenth homicide of 2015, following the shooting deaths last Tuesday of Donte Glenn and Maria Lourdes Soza.

(Before you ask, SFPD has confirmed that at present, they are not counting the SoMa Suitcase Case as an SF homicide, as their investigation has yet to determine if the deceased was killed in San Francisco. If the person found in the suitcase was indeed killed in town, that will make this fatal stabbing SF homicide number 11, not 10. You can learn more about how SFPD and other law enforcement agencies tally crimes here.)

Regardless of what number the slaying is, SFPD needs your help. As always, they urge anyone with information about any SF homicide or other crime to call their anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or to text a tip to TIP411 with “SFPD” at the start of the message.
