Suitcase Stuffed With Human Remains Discovered In SoMa

Police responding to a suspicious package call in SoMa at 11th Street between Market and Mission streets discovered a suitcase stuffed with body parts. According to Officer Grace Gatpandan, the medical examiner's office determined the remains to be human and the case is being treated as a homicide.

CNN reports that officers opened the suitcase to find the body parts just after 4 p.m. and subsequently discovered more remains nearby. The suitcase is being described as roller-type luggage.

The Chronicle has it that the area was swiftly shut down, and quotes officer Gatpandan as saying, “This was an extremely gruesome crime scene.”
