On Wednesday, officials confirmed that the body found inside the car of a missing Sacramento woman was that of the Aubrey Andrews herself. Andrews was also 9 months pregnant at the time of her disappearance, and her unborn fetus also did not survive.

Andrews was reported missing on December 6 by her husband Edward. On Monday, earlier this week, her car was found in the parking lot of an Elk Grove Walmart with a body inside. The Sacramento County Coroner's office revealed on Wednesday that the body was that of Andrews, according to Fox 40.

After the news, the family of Aubrey Andrews released the following statement:

This is the worst outcome imaginable and a tragic loss for our entire family. We thank everyone who played a role in helping us locate Aubrey. We request privacy to mourn the loss of Aubrey and the baby.

An investigation by the station revealed a tumultuous relationship between Aubrey and Edward Andrews. At the beginning of the year, Aubrey filed for a temporary restraining order against Edward, citing emotional and physical abuse. Aubrey claimed Edward threw her against a crib in front of their 3-year old son. She later filed for custody of their child. In May, she filed for divorce from her husband but later canceled it.

"If you don't want to be around, you don't have to be. But just let us know that you're out there, that you're safe," Edward Andrews plead to his wife through the news station before her body was found.

The coroner has yet to release the cause of death. The Sacramento Police Department says there were no signs of foul play, but an investigation remains ongoing.
