As noted over the summer, the fifth movie in the Terminator franchise, Terminator: Genisys, was shot in and around San Francisco, and even though it won't be out until next summer, the trailer has arrived. Former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, looking a little bit gray, even makes an appearance, and so does the Golden Gate Bridge.
Things are a little crazy and mashed up in the new movie, which is more reboot than sequel, and therefore sure to confuse and/or anger some longtime fans. As The Verge explains, "The film takes place in an alternate universe where Sarah Connor is a total badass even back in 1984 and, for some reason, has a Terminator for a father... The trailer makes Genisys look, in part, like a mashup of the first two films, recreating iconic scenes, lines, and villains, but positioning them all in different ways." And thusly they're trying to pretend that the last two Terminators didn't happen, for obvious reasons.
And as SFist reported earlier, the rights to the franchise are now in the hands of billionaire Oracle exec Larry Ellison's movie-producing kids, Megan and David, and it was directed by Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones, Thor 2).
Take it all in. And you'll be waiting until July 1st to see it in theaters.
