We learned back in June that Yoshi's San Francisco was getting sold to a new ownership group, and would no longer be called Yoshi's. The restaurant has shuffled along the last few months, sans much sushi (save a few maki rolls) and without any real identity, but we now get word via the Business Times that original/continuing partner Michael Johnson is renaming the place The Addition. Johnson still plans on unveiling a totally new, TBA restaurant concept sometime next year.

The only outline we have, food-wise, is that the new restaurant at The Addition will be "designed with casual convenience in mind, highlighting ingredients fresh from the farmer’s market." As of July we learned that longtime S.F. barman Reza Esmaili has been named director of operations, and the restaurant is getting consultant help from Bob Burke of Ovation Consulting, who's worked with Gordon Biersch and most recently The Forge in Oakland.

As for music at The Addition, which will take its new name as of November 1, the lineup for the coming months includes Argentine vocalist Sofia Rei, jazz singer Cécile McLorin Salvant, Brian McKnight, and Richie Kotzen, guitarist from 80's glam rock band, Poison.
