Afternoon Palate Cleanser: Giant Caterpillar Squeaks When Goosed

Afternoon Palate Cleanser: Giant Caterpillar Squeaks When Goosed

This darling little video comes to us via Japan (I think), and it's footage of an acleris semipurana, a giant green caterpillar which is actually native to the Eastern U.S. and Canada. The little chartreuse guy seems to making a cute little squeak when his butt is pinched by the person's fingers in the video, but, as science tells us, "She [sic] actually doesn’t even make the sound on purpose, when the guy touches her but she just automaticaly [sic] withdraws, her trachea gets squished and the air in it just gets out, making this sound."

Still, adorable.
