A hit-and-run driver remains on the loose after striking a cyclist riding on the Embarcadero Sunday night.

According to San Francisco Police Department spokesperson Officer Albie Esparza, an 18-year-old man was riding his bike through the intersection of the Embarcadero and Harrison Street at 10:09 p.m. Sunday when a driver who was turning onto Harrison struck him.

The cyclist, who was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with contusions to the head and body, is expected to make a full recovery.

The driver, who was piloting a car that police could describe only as a "dark sedan," didn't stop after hitting the cyclist. As of Tuesday morning, police have been unsuccessful in their efforts to track down either the car or the driver. Therefore, Esparza urges anyone who might have any info on this hit-and-run to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at 415-575-4444 or to send a tip by text message to TIP411 with “SFPD” in the message.
