The San Francisco Police Department announced Friday afternoon that they believe they have caught the people responsible for a double-shooting at a neighborhood barbecue that killed one man and injured another.

As previously reported, 19-year-old Latrell Shaw and an unidentified 27-year-old man were gunned down on the evening of September 5, while at what SFPD spokesperson Albie Esparza says was a "neighborhood barbecue" on Nichols Way, a street in the Alice Griffith Housing Complex.

Both shooting victims were treated at San Francisco General Hospital for their injuries. Shaw succumbed to his wounds, and the other victim was treated and released, Esparza says.

Esparza said Friday afternoon that 19-year-old Fotu Paopao Jr. and an unnamed juvenile had been arrested by SFPD for the crime. Paopao, whose photo Esparza declined to let us show you "due to pending identification matters," was booked at SF County Jail on one count of murder. The juvenile suspect, about whom Esparza could tell us no more due to laws protecting minors, "was also booked for one count of murder at the juvenile Justice Center."

But just because these guys are behind bars does not mean the investigation's over, Esparza said. If you have information on the homicide, he urges you to contact SFPD anonymously at 415-575-4444 or to text-a-tip to TIP411 with SFPD at the start of the message.
