This series of three videos came in via the tip line over the weekend and they appear to show a talkative, allegedly mentally disturbed woman getting some rough treatment at the hands of a BART police officer.

We've reached out to the uploader and apparent witness, Kareem Muslim, who is one of several onlookers who speak up to the officer about his treatment of the woman, in order to determine what exactly happened just before the officer arrived on the scene.

In the first video, the woman keeps saying to the officer, "Why are you being violent towards me?" She then falls, or is shoved to the ground, and that's when the screaming and crying begins. She seems very agitated and very scared, and says that the officer is hurting her.

One of the onlookers eventually, sarcastically says, "I didn't know Johannes Mehserle still worked for BART Police."

Update: SFist reached out to BART public information officer Jim Allison and received the following official explanation of the incident:

Train operators reported that a black female suspect was acting erratically and was banging on train windows. The woman was attempting to force open the doors of trains by pulling the doors apart as the trains left the station. An officer located the woman, who appeared to be passed out on an SFO bound train. The officer determined that the woman was intoxicated in public and he attempted to place her under arrest. The woman resisted being arrested and additional BART and Contra Costa County Sheriff’s deputies responded to assist. The woman was taken into custody for public intoxication and resisting arrest. Paramedics at the scene believed she was under the influence of alcohol and methamphetamine. The woman was medically cleared at County Hospital and then booked at the Martinez Detention Facility. There was a 13 minute delay in service.

According to the witness, the woman got up to "exit the train very calmly and the cop aggressively slammed" her.
