A man who was already being held in San Francisco County Jail over another crime is also responsible for a recent Potrero Hill homicide, the San Francisco Police Department and District Attorney's office both say.
According to SFPD spokesperson Officer Albie Esparza, their homicide detail has arrested Deandre Watson, a 26-year-old SF man, for the murder of Paris Raynaldo.
It's completely understandable if you don't recall the circumstances of Raynaldo's death: his was just one in a spate of homicides this past August. In this particular case, SFPD officers were summoned to a residence on the 900 block of Connecticut Street, which is near Wisconsin Street, at 10:42 a.m. on Thursday, August 7. There they found Raynaldo, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He died at the scene, Esparza says.
According to the Chron, the woman who had called police to Raynaldo's apartment had discovered Raynaldo unconscious, "but did not witness his death."
Esparza said on Friday that Watson, the man arrested for the crime, "was in custody on another matter when investigators from the homicide detail developed information which lead to the identity of Watson as the person responsible for the murder. Police added the homicide charge and Watson remains in custody." According to the Ex, he's presently being held on $5 million bail.
Watson appeared in court regarding these charges on Friday, the Ex reports. He pled not guilty, and is expected back in court on September 22.
Until then, Esparza says that police are still working on the case, to such an extent that he declined to provide a booking shot of Watson "due to identification matters." Anyone who witnessed or has information on the homicide is urged to call SFPD anonymously at 415-575-4444 or to text-a-tip to TIP411 with SFPD at the start of the message.
