As you've probably heard, pre-orders of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus have been huge — basically double what they were for the iPhone 5 just in the first 24 hours. So, as Apple addicts and everyone who really wants to replace their cracked 5s are eagerly awaiting the first phones to arrive Friday, we get two photos today from a cargo plane pilot, via the MacRumors forum, showing what a shipment of 195,000 iPhone 6's and 6 Plusses looks like aboard a Boeing 747.

The pilot, whose user name is goforblacksky, made his first post to the forum saying:

Yep, that's what I do. I fly stuff. Privileged to be a small part of the Apple supply chain. Just landed a 747 full of iPhone 6's in Anchorage. Another crew will take the airplane on to Chicago. It'll be on the ground at O'hare about 9am Sept. 15. I gave it a little extra gas coming over the Pacific, just to get them here a little quicker. You're welcome

That means these phones are sitting somewhere in Chicago, and there are probably similarly bundled phones arriving all over the country which no one will get their hands on until Friday. There's one more photo below looking into the plane.

Apple is still recommending, by the way, that if you plan to go to an Apple store Friday morning to purchase a new phone starting at 8 a.m., you try pre-ordering anyway and requesting in-store pickup. iPhone 6Plus pre-orders are sold out with multi-week wait times, and the iPhone 6 is currently showing shipments in 7 to 10 business days.
