Were I Hans Gruber, Thursday morning would be the day I'd pull off my latest heist, as that's when a large number of San Francisco's finest will be diverted by a "joint training exercise" that sounds a liiiiittle bit similar to my operation at Nakatomi Plaza.

Sadly, I'm not Hans Gruber (would even accept being Simon), I just write on the internet. So here are the details: From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, the San Francisco Police Department, the San Francisco Fire Department, and the Building Owners and Managers Association will be taking over 100 First Street (that's First and Mission) for role play fun.

"The scenario will involve a company located inside the building and utilizing the basement of the high rise at 100 First Street," an SFPD press release says.

Passers-by can expect to see "numerous SFPD and SFFD vehicles parked in that area" as well as "large numbers of role players at the immediate exterior of the building."

The "SFPD Tactical Unit, EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), the SFFD, and civilian members of BOMA," will all be participating in the LARP, "as a way for building owners and managers to gain experience working with first responders during a critical incident or emergency." Like when Hans Gruber shows up to ruin your Christmas party!

Anyway, nothing legitimately worrisome to see there. Move along.
