The San Francisco Police Department continues to seek the driver of a white Camry, Honda, or Lexus that struck and killed a two-year-old girl walking in a Mission Street crosswalk Friday night.
SF toddler Mi'yana Gregory was walking in the crosswalk on Mission Street between 4th and 5th Streets (that's the one that runs between Bloomingdale's and the Fifth and Mission Parking Garage) with her aunt and her twin brother at 10:37 p.m. Friday night when a car headed east struck her and did not stop, SFPD spokesperson Sergeant Danielle Newman says.
The vehicle, described as a four-door, white Camry, Honda, or Lexus from the mid 90s with a dark colored mismatched front bumper and dark or black rims appears in the photo above.
At a vigil for MyMy, as friends and family referred to her, near the scene of her death, her father said that "She had this smile that just lit up the room...she was the sweetest little thing," KTVU reports.
SFPD Chief Greg Suhr also appeared upset by the crime, telling KTVU "It's just so sad. I know two of the sergeants who responded attempted CPR, so you can imagine how they're feeling. It's just awful."
As of Monday morning, police say that no arrests had been made in the crime, something that Gregory's great-grandmother just can't believe. Addressing the driver via KTVU, she said: "I'm sure you've seen it on the news. Are you human? Do you have a conscience?"
Assuming at this point that the person responsible for Gregory's death will, sadly, not grow a conscience, SFPD are reliant on the public to find the driver. They ask that anyone with information call them, reminding folks that anonymous tips can be made at 415-575-4444. And if you see a car that looks like this one on the road? Then, Newman says, please call 911 straight away, with the location and the direction in which the car is traveling.
