Serious Injuries After FedEx Driver Strikes Cyclist And Passenger On Handlebars

Both a cyclist and a second person riding on the bike's handlebars were seriously injured this morning, after the driver of a FedEx truck struck them as they headed up Market Street.

Emergency responders were called to Market Street near Third Street at about 9:48 this morning, according to a dispatcher with the San Francisco Fire Department, when the cyclist and passenger riding toward the Ferry Building were hit by the delivery vehicle.

According to CBS5, the FedEx truck, which had been parked on Market near Third, pulled out suddenly, striking the cyclist and handlebar-rider. Both were transported to San Francisco General Hospital with serious injuries, CBS5 reports.

At publication time, the San Francisco Police Department had no further information on the accident or victims, saying only that the FedEx driver was cooperative and provided a statement to investigators.
