BAYCAT's 10th Anniversary
Support youth media! The Bayview Hunters Point Center for Arts and Technology (BAYCAT) is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a screening of the 30th episode of its youth produced TV show on August 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. Free.

San Jose Jazz Summer Fest
Located in Downtown San Jose, the Jazz Summer Fest is a chill alternative to Outside Lands (and much more affordable, too!). Ranging from funk legend Bootsy Collins to the jazz fusion band Snarky Puppy, there's no shortage of music to check out. August 8-10. $15-65

Human | Nature Opening Reception
Up in the North Bay, the art exhibition Human | Nature opens on August 8, with a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. The exhibition takes a look at the relationship between humans and nature through paintings. Free.

SATURDAY

Bad Asians
API Cultural Center's comedy showcase presents "Bad Asians", a look at the different tropes of what a "bad" Asian is and plays off that theme. Featuring six Asian Pacific Islander American comedians, the showcase is on August 9 at 8 p.m. $10-15

Try The Pie At 1-2-3-4 Go! Records
If you still wanna check out some music, but go nowhere near Outside Lands, trek across the Bay to Oakland's 1-2-3-4 Go! Records to hear the local band Try the Pie play some sweet punk tunes. The San Jose-based band will be playing with All Dogs and Joyride! on August 9 at 7 p.m. The cover charge is not listed, but it's usually $5.
