After Sir Paul McCartney belts out "Live and Let Die" on August 14 at Candlestick Park, the historic stadium will indeed die — with its parts sold to the highest bidder.
As SF Weekly reports, most of the cool memorabilia, like the stadium's orange seats ($649 for a pair), will be sold separately with items first offered to 49ers season ticket-holders.
But for the rest of us, there's a weird assortment of wares available for bidding starting September 10. Mostly impractical and about as historic as the junk collecting dust in an industrial warehouse, there is some cool stuff in the auction's partial catalog that's currently online.
Here's what you generous readers should buy for SFist:
A groovy 1977 Kenwood KR-4600 AM/FM stereo receiver that used to be in the police dining room, so we can blast tunes while we work.
An industrial clothes washer from the player's locker room, so we can finally get all our collective laundry done.
An old-school Sony BVP-7a Video Camera with telephoto lens and stand, so we can make our own tech boom documentary.
A stylish Mid-Century modern light pole, for which we have no place to put because we live in cramped apartments with no back yards.
And a massive scoreboard, with which we'll keep track of Mayor Ed Lee's parking tickets, S.F. evictions, and the November election results.
Happy bidding guys!
